Creating your own Character

Drakoni are a semi-open, free to make species, meaning anyone is allowed to make one to use within the group. Prospective members start out with one  character slot but may claim one additional slot after one month, three months, six months and twelve months respectively.

This guide will explain everything you need to know for the creation of your very own drakonis. We suggest reading the page thoroughly first to see all the potential options before diving into drawing your character.

Choosing your Species

There are three subspecies of drakoni inhabiting the world of Lumyr; the Althiar, the Yashoi, and the Miuvolke. Each of them have their own characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses as well as their own history! Although most attributes of a character can change, each subspecies has a certain head shape and range of body shapes unique to them and can not be changed later. Additionally, each has abilities that they exceed in compared to the remaining two species.

Below is a short summary of what makes each of the three species special.

To find out more, click on the corresponding buttons to get to the species' page!

Althiar Drakonis

The althiar are said to have been the first drakoni to have come into existence after the Endless and to most closely resembling their ancestors. Elyssius is known to be the althian's kingdom, despite the fact that they commonly live anywhere within Lumyr.

Their heads have a common draconic shape with a notable ridge where their nose starts. Their builds tend to be more on the bulky, front-heavy side with strong arms.

Althian are especially known for their immense strength.

Yashoi Drakonis

Yashoi are the second most common type of drakoni inhabiting Lumyr. They're the primary species of the Koushikan Dynasty, but it is not uncommon to see them in other places such as Elyssius.

The yashoi have rounded head shapes with a smooth, stocky face. Many adult yashoi prefer walking on all fours because of their longer bodies, but it's not impossible for them to stand up.

Yashoi are capable of simple flight even without wings or magic.

Miuvolke Drakonis

The miuvolke are the most recently discovered subspecies of drakonis. Not much is known about them except for their sudden appearance all throughout Lumyr.

Miuvolke have humanoid faces with short snouts. Their bodies are built for walking upright with plantigrade legs, making it uncomfortable for a miuvolke to walk on all fours.

Miuvolke are known for their excellent mobility.

Picking your Element

All drakoni are born with an affinity for one of the five elements: Fire, Water, Wind, Light, or Shadow. Due to the nature of their species, a drakonis' elemental affinity remains the same for their entire life. It is not uncommon for a child's elemental affinity to be different from either of its parents, but no one truly knows what actually affects which element a drakonis is born with.

Although all drakoni have to follow their element's color palette when first being created, their colors may change as they grow older. We advise choosing an element based on what appeals to you the most rather than the starting palettes!

Designing your Drakonis

Once you've chosen an element for your drakonis, it's time to come up with a design for them!

When designing your character you can choose up to two of the marking presets below. You can also skip this step and leave them one solid color.

Keep in mind that the color within the gacha ball must always be the character's base color and the colors in the smoke clouds are the available secondary colors for this palette!

Click on the marking for additional design notes!

There are a few rules to remember when choosing colors for markings:

  • Chosen markings can not be the drakonis' base color: you must use the palettes secondary colors

  • You don't have to use all the colors of your chosen palette immediately as they can still be used on traits later

  • Markings from the same preset can be different colors as long as they are not connected (i.e. they are separated by the base color)

  • Markings from different presets that overlap can be different or the same secondary colors

  • Asymmetrical markings can not be flipped. They can, however, be moved around later using traits

  • The markings can be slightly altered to fill in small gaps that appear from combining two presets

  • Larger gaps must remain the drakonis' base color

Final Notes

Lastly there are a few ways to further customize your drakonis as well as some notes on things to keep in mind!

  • You can choose any color for your drakonis' iris

    • Their sceleras must be pure white upon approval but can later be changed using traits

    • Pupils require the application of the respective traits after the approval, as all drakoni are born without them

  • Drakoni have hard scale-like skin similar to that of lizards or snakes

  • All drakoni have natural colored mouths and tongues when born

    • All drakoni may start with either a forked or regular tongue

  • You may give your drakonis small teeth or grow them later at any time

  • Their fingers and toes are hard and claw-like, not soft like paws

  • All drakoni have three fingers and one thumb on each hand by default as well as three toes

  • For the approval process, we request to exclude any clothing or accessories

    • You may, however, draw your drakonis wearing any type of clothing without limitations afterwards

  • While gender expression does exist, all drakoni are hermaphrodites

  • Please refrain from using shading on the approval image!

    • You may add shading to the character's application once your drakonis is approved if you'd like!

  • You can select a combination of mouth and eyebrow shapes from the examples below regardless of species!

    • Mouth and eyebrows do not have to be from the same example. Feel free to mix and match as you please

    • Eyebrows may be colored using existing colors on your drakonis, or with black

    • There will be ways to change these later through the application of traits

Putting it all together

Once you're happy with your drakonis' species, appearance, and traits, it's time to put together your application!

  • Click on the template corresponding to your character's element above to open it and save the file to your device

  • Draw your character in a way that shows all of their traits and markings as clearly as possible and place them on the template

  • Write your character's name on the template

  • There is no requirements for the description, so you are free to leave it out entirely or go as in-depth as you'd like!

  • Submit your character to DeviantArt and the "Stage 1 Drakonis" folder in the group

  • Wait for a mod to either approve it or reply to you with a request for potential changes

An example of a finished app can be seen below, showing Hinata the althiar, who has an affinity for fire magic.

If this is your first character, send a join request to the group with a link to your character's application and wait for a mod to reply! While you wait, please click the button below and familiarize yourself with our tutorial!

Every players 1st character is locked to special conditions that they're obligated to follow, which might impact what kind of character you choose to start with!
