Frequently Asked Questions
If you've got a question regarding the group's lore but don't know where to look for the answers, please make sure to check back here before asking in our discord channel. We know it might be faster and less work for you but on the other hand, it also means a lot more work for us to answer the same 10 questions every day. Because of this we expect members to be capable of at least trying to find the answers for their questions on their own.

That being said, if your question isn't answered here and you can't find it anywhere else on the website, you are more than welcome to ask.
Q: What kind of technology exists in Lumyr?
A: The technology that currently exists in Lumyr is comparable to that of the 90s in our world. While the internet and mobile telecommunication does not exist yet, television, radios, and landline phones are not an uncommon sight. This also means that old video game consoles such as the NES, Gamecube, Gameboy, and similar exist as well. Movies are available through cinemas and VHS tapes while music is redistributed through concerts, cassette tapes, or the radio! CD technology is very rare and expensive in group's current setting.
Q: Can my character live outside of Elyssius?
A: Yes, but also no. Your character can technically live in any of the kingdoms, but they should still constantly reside/ be located within Elyssius. Dorms, inns, visiting, traveling, etc. Whether or not you follow this rule won't be policed, as it only exists for simplicity's sake. You could create a lot of confusion and inconsistencies with other members, especially when developing stories and interactions with their characters. A character who lives in Koushika can't be roommates with someone in Elyssius, and so on.
Q: Can my character be feral?
A: Yes. Feral drakoni do exist, but they are prohibited from all cities and towns in their feral state, and will be hunted by guards. You can freely develop them in the wild, or small tribal settlements if you wish! Or go the fugitive route: sneaking into towns, etc.
To gain regular access to towns and cities, your character could be recovered from the wild! Slowly returning from their feral state, similar to a caveman. So long they can understand the guards, and perhaps even speak some words, they would be allowed in. Guards would keep their eye on them sometimes, and even check in with them to see how they're doing/ if they need any help. They could be either born in the wild, or have spent too much time away from the pillars, loosing their civilized nature. Whichever route you choose, it's not unnatural or quirky. It's a fairly normal thing among drakoni.
Q: Can my character be a criminal?
A: Yes! Genesia is a large city, and Elyssius is a large country. While you might want to avoid having "well known" organizations ( at this point in time, hehe ;3 we have something planned that would help with that, in the future ), it's certainly not uncommon to have smaller bandit groups. Drakoni are expected to avoid conflict and war, therefor criminals are pursued with words and imprisonment. However, there are crimes punishable by execution on sight. Murder, excessive abuse and torture are some of the crimes that receive death penalty. Even if it's revenge murder, chances are you might be executed. Drakonian guards take capture of these criminals very seriously, and civilians who might know their location are expected to report their findings, rather than take action themselves.
Any thief group that draws too much attention to their activities would be looked into by guards. Elyssian guards primarily exist to maintain peace within drakonis inhabited communities, rather than keep the threats out. That's why most bandit groups make their bases well outside of settlements, keeping a low profile. Poverty is rare among drakoni, their culture revolves around communities and ensuring lack of violence - thus, a lot of steps are taken to make sure everyone lives at the bare minimum of comfortable living conditions. However, drakonis have always been a greedy race, and some simply cannot suppress their true nature...
Q: What is the difference between the rich and the common?
A: Like mentioned previously, poverty is practically unheard of among drakoni. There are extensive community efforts, including from the leaders, to ensure everyone has a roof above their head and food on their table. It might not be luxurious, but it's food. Wealth isn't nonexistent, some families are far better off than others. However, tax system ensures that treasure circulates well enough, where everyone lives comfortably. The poor have fewer taxes, while the rich have much greater taxes to pay. In general - the richer you are, the more is expected of you and your family - thus, few drakoni choose to keep their wealth in order to tower over others as nobility.

Noble families are expected to serve the community. They're the ones investing in festivals, improvements of towns and cities, as well as providing money for the poor. They are highly respected by commonfolk, and well liked, thus having a loud voice of authority. Any noble families that choose to not partake in these customs aren't shunned, but they aren't very liked by anyone either. They have little presence, and can gain negative reputation further if they go out of their way to flaunt their wealth. Even the great leaders like Gilgamesh have very little personal wealth, investing to better their kingdoms and settlements rather than live in luxury - a legacy passed down for generations.
Q: Things sound too good to be true, is Drakapon set in utopia?
A: Yes, actually! There are historical events that led to Lumyr becoming an utopian world, which will be revealed later. Drakoni don't really have to fight for survival regularly, feeling safe within the borders of their cities. Monsters do exist, but they're more like wildlife than threats that actively prey on drakonis. A stray monster in the city is equivalent of say, a bear wandering into someone's backyard. Their biggest worries are more like 1st world problems - not getting a favorite snack on a sale, being turned down by the drakonis they liked, failing a test, not finding a shirt in the color they wanted - although this sounds mundane, it has plenty room for conflict if written accordingly. After all, they are draconic creatures, and dragons are known to be territorial, greedy and tyrannical. While no one will closely police how members write their stories, it's good to be aware of this so you don't end up looking too outlandish.

Things like living in caves and burrows whilst also remaining civilized would make little sense, and certainly would be seen as strange in-lore. Only feral drakoni face this kind of lifestyle, realistically.
After all, drakoni are practically in the 21st century.
Q: Can my character be trans/ nonbinary? How are sexualities viewed?
A: Drakoni are hermophrodites, meaning they possess both sexes at once. They may refer to themselves as whichever gender they prefer. It could change with age, and it's perfectly normal. As such, heterosexuality and homosexuality don't exactly 'exist', either. Drakoni can have their preferences or lack of such, but they don't classify or label them.

Only illegal sexualities are attraction to younger drakoni, your own family and blood relatives, monsters or the dead. Members are strictly prohibited from using these in their storytelling. Failure to abide by this rule will lead to immediate termination from the group.
Non-consensual relationships and stories that deal with this topic will also not be tolerated in Drakapon, and will be due for termination depending on severity. Anything involving rape, even if implied, will be terminated immediately.

Even if the subject is treated respectfully, this group is meant for all ages. We understand that its important to talk about these topics in order to educate people, but likewise they can be used in order to normalize harmful mindsets if done wrong. As such, we've chosen to prohibit it entirely, as opposed to cherry picking and curating content case by case. If your story MUST contain these themes, please consider joining a different group or writing your own, independent story outside of Drakapon.
Q: What jobs can my character have?
A: Most common human society jobs from the period of 80's - 90's!
Policemen, FBI and social workers are replaced by one category - City Guards. Firefighters, lifeguards, paramedics and other rescue jobs fall under one category - Safety Brigade. More lore on that will be provided soon!
But otherwise, shopkeepers, doctors, butchers, bankers, chefs, hunters, farmers, janitors, crafters, artists, game developers, actors, musicians, etc are all normal jobs for drakoni to have.
Q: Can my character swap their element or chosen weapon at a later time?
A: No, much like the race, element and weapon are choices you commit to. So please, choose wisely!
Q: Do real life animals exist in Lumyr? What about food and plants?
A: Real life animals - no. Lumyr is populated by various species of fantasy creatures, and while they do have their own variants of dog, cat, etc, they still have a fantasy spin to them. It's also worth noting that members aren't encouraged to create their own personal creatures for the sake of simplicity.

Real life food - yes! Drakapon mainly utilizes real food, and has very few fantasy additions.
Real life plants - yes! Whilst the ecosystem mainly consists of real life flora, there is plenty of fantasy flora as well. Likewise, just like with monsters - please don't create your own for simplicity's sake.
